read-this Few pics from the Overlanders.ie Spain and Portugal Trip

Not Long back from a few days away in Spain and Portugal with overlanders on their 1st ACT trip.
ACT (adventure country tracks) is a relatively new initiative by touratech which aims to provide off the beaten track routes to those looking for something a little different, but with limited time.
The GPX File for the first European route in the series (Portugal) is available to download for free here, along with an overview.
http://www.adventurecountrytracks.com
And though I went with a group,it is quite possible to navigate it yourself, although due to the remoteness of some of the terrain,I would advise that at least two or three people do it together....if you fell off,got hurt, you could be some time before help arrives......phone signals poor for much of it too.
It is being offered as a beginner's/introduction to mild off road, about half of it is minor/major tarmac roads, but there are some difficult sections that are not so easy.
Here's a few photos from the trip

All there, price is 250 more than when I booked this year.
By all accounts they could have sold it out three times over.

For a weeks riding that is quite good!! i presume they overland your bike there and back and you pay your own flights?

edit, I read the fine print.

Yes,
It's not bad for what you get,b&b basis in nice hotels, gites etc.
Fuel, lunch and dinner and a few pints are your only other spend.
Apart from petrol(approx €1.50/L),Portugal is dirt cheap.
I've signed up to next years ACT Greece already.
Get yourself booked onto one of them, you won't regret it

So it's a kind of Nick Sanders type guided tour provided by overlanders.ie, where you take a flight out to spain or morocco or where ever and just jump on your bike to tare round the place ?

This is a great pic, should enter into the photo of the month competition ;

Yeah,
You can go fully guided with the lads,or download the route to your,GPS and tear off yourself/selves,again,I would not recommend going alone.
People have done, but there is a lot of rough track, you want someone to be able to go for help if you fall off/get hurt.
It would be days before someone would find you otherwise.
Easy enough for anyone with a little off road skills, and ok for most, wet weather would make it a lot harder though.

..I must put up some pics of our recent Greece trip. Overlanders shipped the bikes but routes arranged and planned via Leeside MCC. "Offroad" routes organised for those wanting to try their hand at the gravel. Lovely twisted roads but lots of loose dust/sand and disappearing roads....petrol 1.54 ~ 1.60 per litre .... food & booze cheap and the Greek people couldn't be friendlier.
