Default Speedtrap N7 outside Limerick...Query

I was riding along on the N7 approaching Limerick today and i spotted an unmarked Garda car in one of those elevated areas where Garda cars reverse up and observe traffic driving away from them.
i MAY have been SLIGHTLY over the 125km/h limit
so i reduced speed rapidly (as you do)
i may have got my speed down sufficiently at the point where i was about 30 yards passed the car.
anyway he didn't chase after me and i didn't see a speed gun pointed out the drivers window. should i be worried ?

Also, is speed always measured approaching a speed gun or do they ever do the detection on vehicles driving away from them ?

thanks

earlier that day i was driving within the limit on a 50km/h road and i passed a speed van going the opposite way.
he gave me a friendly wave. i thought that was odd
maybe he was a fellow biker.

Yes...they can get you driving away from them. They got me in the cage that way & followed me with lights. 147 in a 100. On the Limerick to Adare by pass (just as you leave the 120 & enter the 100 zone (cop car was back up the slip road)

Thought it would mean court appearance, but 2 pints & 80 fine. That was 4 yrs ago,

They can catch you heading away from the speed trap also they don't have to have a gun pointed out the window most traffic corp cars have ANPR that detect speed

1. i didn't actually see a speed gun
2. also the car was unmarked so possibly had no ANPR equipment.
3. he didn't chase me

i'm hoping that either:
A. he was asleep
B. he had just arrived
C. he was having a kitkat

thats a lethal spot for speed traps.
other places to watch out for (Guards, not vans)
Raheen to Patrickswell road just beyond crecora left turn just where 60 stretch becomes an 80 stretch. they catch you in the 60 stretch

Also on Groody Bridge, Castletroy catching drivers heading towards UL from city.
cycle cop hides behind lamp post on the bridge

be careful out there
