Default Enniskillen Road Races launches with debut meeting in June

Enniskillen and District Motorcycle Club will run races on the roads of County Fermanagh for the first time in 66 years when bikes return on Friday 29th and Saturday 30th June 2018.

The enthusiastic club are hosting a ‘no frills, just pure road racing’ event which it hopes will become an annual fixture on the Road Racing calendar.

Set in the shadow of Cuilcagh Mountain, the three-mile circuit has a little bit of everything ranging from wide fast straights with sweeping corners to blind jumps along narrow tree lined routes is only a few miles from the now famous stairway to heaven walk over Marble Arch Geopark, Lough Erne and local marinas.

The race schedule will see a full day of practices on the Friday with roads closing from 12 – 9, with a full grid of newcomers its set to be a busy day. On Saturday there will be an 11-race programme with the Richard Britton Memorial Race to be the showcase of the day.

Richard is the main reason the club were able to move forward with our plans with the funds raised thanks to the tribute film which was commissioned by the club and produced and directed by Colin James to mark the 10th anniversary of his untimely passing.

Riders from all over Ireland north and south will compete at the event with riders from as far as Germany and England.

“We believe that the rider at the back is every bit as important as the rider at the front we are hopeful to put on a show as never seen in this area before. We are proud to bring motorcycle racing back to the area and as it was during the last race in 1952 it will again have the ‘old school’ approach and the local community are looking forward to the event,” said a club spokesman.

Great to have another road race starting when so many seem to be struggling! I will definately be their supporting you! From what i heard at tandragee last weekend the circuit has serious potential to be one of the most challenging and exciting circuits about! Lets get as many fans going from here to one of the most beautiful areas of NI.

just giving heads up on this route, mind the roads

there is a lot of tar melted on the road, with the heat of the last few days,
the councils (Meath & cavan) have put down small chippings, nearly like pea gravel on the melting tar (read scattered it out with a shovel road gritter), the gravel is nearly worse than the melted tar

A few corners with a major drop off if you get it wrong... An interesting circuit to ride I'd say but where are the spectators gonna go? Not so many obvious spots unless the locals let you march the fields.
I hope it's a great meet and I am sorry I can't make it this time. I would love to support this venture. Good luck to all!

Just back home from this.

Cracking day.

Only faller i recall was an asian lad in the classics at the corner at end of start finish straight.

Lucky for him that there was a pub on outside of the corner.
He got up.
Was handed a pint and took a gulp then put the rest over his head.

Class.
The crowd roared at that.

Nice tribute to the late great Richard Britton with family doing a parade lap on his oul race bikes

McGee was untouchable.

All home safe is the main thing though

Sound fella that asian lad - Roger Chan

McGee would've won 6 races if he didn't retire in the Moto3/125's

Did he enter six thought there was a rule riders can only enter 5 races

rules 29
No rider to be permitted to enter more than 5 races per day.

Good question, he won both Superbike, both Supersport races along with the Supertwin race, yet retired in the lightweights!

...strange one!

He qualified pole in 6 but had to drop 1 as only can race 5. He was dropping 1 of the supersports but he retired the 125 on the warm-up lap so he ended up running both supersports.

Unreal the way he rode it! It's like he was on one for years.
First corner was hard on clutches on them.
Brilliant well ran meeting. Definitely one to stay over at next year.
