Which makes you dead but not in the wrong.
I've been riding in Dublin for years and touch wood I'm still alive, I didn't say id have overtaken the bus I said that doing it doesn't give the cage right of way.

Exactly this. Takes a helluva lot of practice/experience to instinctively look for the gap rather than at the blockage

Due care and attention would be riding at a pace where you could safely stop. It was reasonable in the location to expect that a pedestrian would cross in front of that bus. Taking that as your reference it doesn't leave much to the imagination.

Seems like any experienced rider would have been watching that space in front of the bus with certainty that it would hold a risk.

It makes a great training video.
