You will get some who say to powdercoat them, and you will get others who say to paint them.

me personally,I painted the sets of wheels,as powdercoat chips and when it chips,it cant be repaired.
If and when paint chips,it can be touched up easily.

Basicly its down to your own personal choice and what you want to do.

I got wheels powder coated many moons ago now, 70 quid a wheel and had to go of and get the tyres removed myself. overall they looked good it was a nice matt black finish but as above they did chip easier then expected. just putting the tyres back on was a nightmare without damaging them

will be spraying my gsxr wheels white soon. wouldnt pay 140 for powder coat due to the chipping issue as repair wouldnt be possible without full strip and new powder coat. plus paint costs alot less.

Got a quote off a lad in Mayo €150. Lad in Gorey/Galway €200.

Carlow buddy of mine doing it for the cost of paint so happy days.

Gotten wheels sprayed in the past and will do it again and again without a doubt, very good long lasting finish.

Where are you based? I could get you a quote if you're not far from Carlow?

What was the reasoning behind it? I was talking price. I cant imagine paint be any stronger than powder coat in resisting chips or damage when changing tyres

Chipping can't be touched up as you would with paint

Dont think either would look well touched up.the paint will have a clearcoat so a touchup with white will stand out like a sore thumb .ive never had powder coated wheels so I really don't know

Check out Plasti Dip. Its a DIY job and cheap, also dead handy to change as 4/5 coats form a thin rubber layer. Handy if you wanted to try a color or change it down the road.

Lots of vids on u tube but beware most are cage ones. Few places in Dublin selling teh cans and looks around €16 which would do one wheel handy I'd say. You can also get a can off gloss stuff to make it shiny. Seems to take power washing well but tyre changes will cut it but then if its cheap enough you can change it again.
