Default Help needed.... Getting my bike to cotters....

Back tire on me bike has gone today, I don't think it's repairable enough to use it again. Was hoping it would last til Saturday when I'd arranged to go to cotters for new tires. It was in bits and to be honest should have been replaced a while back.
Don't have the means or ability to remove the wheels so need to get the bike to cotters somehow. I'm out about 8km from blessington.
Any idea's /suggestions welcome.

does your insurance policy have roadside assistance?

how bad is the tyre could it be plugged so you could get to cotters?

if you have roadside assistance does it cover recovery of the bike?

Thanks lads, I'll check with ins company tomorrow.
Tyre is bald as a plucked chicken and looks fucked, I'll give it a closer inspection tomorrow tho.
Apologies for taking so long to respond, Internet is dreadful at my house.
Anyone any idea how much a van to take it would cost, and who might do that type of thing?

If you see the white carcass of the tyre well then don't chance it but if it's just bald and still some rubber left on there well the drive it to cotters

A van would be around 100€ from Hertz, depending on the size. Still cheaper than getting recovery s evidence writing weekend.

If your back tyre is that worn I wouldn't go next or near your insurance company for breakdown, the brakedown service provider will send a report back to the company and if they get wind of the condition of the tyre they'll throw the book at you come renewal time! Part of your agreement with them is that for insurance purposes it's maintained to roadworty standards, so if there's any alternative I'd go for a plan B!

Plenty adds in the local advertisers etc. Notice boards..Man with van.or a local bike mechanic could call and take over and do the whole job either take off the wheels or bike trailer it for you to workshop.

Would cotters collect bike for you? I know some shops offer that service. Might be worth a call.

Ring Cotters and they'll give you a number for a guy that does a 24hr recovery service.

Cotters dont open on a Monday, just incase you are thinking of riding her in to them.
Open Tuesday- Saturday.

If the tyre is just bald and not down to the carcass then ride the bike slowly down to Cotters on a dry day.

Heres a pic of the offending puncture. Looks pluggable to me?
I've a can of sealant/inflator at home which I'll try, but I believe that stuff is a bit useless?
I've also got a plug kit so can try that also, first time doing so myself.
Whats the deal with inflating them, I've a bicycle track pump with 2 valve types on it, would that work? Or should I use c02 canistors? I hate them things when cycling and avoid them like the plague.

That looks pluggable.
Cycle track pump will do the job

Strap it to the back of the bike or stick it in a backpack and bring it with you when going to cotters.
