Default Any Kerry riders doing reacharounds ?

Hey Guys,

I've recently passed my test and have been eager to shave a few decades off my current ride (which I bought from here!).

I've spotted a GSXR in Kerry that I'd love to buy, but unfortunately I can't afford 250 for a thumbs up from Assess Ireland (my budget planning would give Stretch Armstrong a run for his money at this stage).

Would any kind soul be interested in checking this bike over for me, before I venture down on a train from Dublin, with payment and gear in hand? I wouldn't be too confident in checking over the mechanicals, apart from anything glaringly obvious, so would love if someone local might be able to give a second opinion. It looks mint (apart from colour), just best to be cautious as I'm going all out financially.

I'm more than happy to donate a few brews via PayPal if someone's willing to help me out. Or if I can return a favour, I'm happy to help!

Many thanks!

Cheers! Delighted to have it out of the way. I want to look at getting advanced training next and hopefully be a 'blood biker' some day.

I've got 9 years of experience now, riding all year round. I had 2 mopeds and then used a Bros 400 for a few months before getting my 650 4 years ago now.

I'm looking for a power increase, as my 650 revs a little hard on motorways etc but I think a litre is too much for me (was originally looking at 600s, but 750 seems better long term). Planning to go for a spin around Europe next year, with a few weekends around Ireland first. So I feel the 750 could be ideal for longer trips.

Threw the link and question up on Bookface there and one of the best mechanics I have ever come across got back to me with this:

I've serviced it a couple of times. One of the best examples in the county. Rides like a brand new bike.
Maintained to the best possible standard. Genuine reason for selling.

After hearing him say that I wouldn't even go look at it as I trust his word with a heart and a half pal..

Jeez, that's some glowing review Nareik! Seriously appreciate the effort, sounds like it's a solid history.

Just off the phone with the seller, but sadly he's not willing to move on the figure at all, which is already beyond what I can really afford. Sadly it seems a couple hundred Eurons has ruled this out for me! Might just go back to my 3 grand budget and focus on the deposit for a house.. Heart broken we couldn't reach a deal.

The seller could have easily spotted this thread and realizes you're mad into this bike. Hence the reason for not price dropping.
Whenever I'm buying a bike I never let the seller know I'm really interested.

I'd be wary of the seller because of his name.

buyer is right not to negotiate over the phone
too many dreamers out there happy to waste peoples time on the phone but not prepared to actually hop on a bus and waste their own time.

Were the wheels gold from new? If they have been painted, have a
close look at the rest of the bike to see if it is damaged/repaired.

Also, it's not exactly catching a bus across town, I've to dedicate my entire Saturday to sitting on a bus for 4 hours and then 3-4 hour drive home, along with bus/train tickets (70 euro to Kerry from Dublin by train) and that's if it all works out! If it was within an hour or two, I'd have met him already.

5k isn't a crazy low ball figure. It isn't like you are offering 3k for the bike.
Take the chance.
Or would you rather buy a "donedeal minter" closer to home?
