Mmmmm, Maybe if they did something to make the fairing looked finished rather than let it like the bottom wouldn't fit. Other than that it looks like the bastard love child of a Hypersports & a Bandit.

Jury's out

Edit, it looks way better in this colour..

came out in 98 or 2000 , some info here ,

http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/mod...s1200%2001.htm

i think its cool , but if you see a picture of the front head on its seriously fugly,

rotten lookin yoke from the front , they should have continued the hyper theme with the same headlight / style fairing as on the hypersport ,

cudda been well cool then , seriously tho , head on , its a mutant

any of the gixxer fairing / headlight combos would have been a much better starting place (i think)

It's not that bad, a bit like a Moto Martin from the 80's, I just think they could have made it a bit more "factory finished" looking fairing wise.

ah dont get me wrong , im well into all that weird moto martin style stuff , its just on this yoke , i dont think its done quite right (each to there own and all ) but the fairings huge , i just think its a shame , because the rest of its all there , where the gsx1400 is say a big single headlight retro , this cudda been the dream bike of all who liked the big muscles of the hyper and all the style , with extra comfort , but without shitty suspension and skinny 18'' wheels and the like ,

i remember seeing it online a few years ago and thinking mmm wonder could i find one of them and sort the fairing out ,,

That'd be cool, it'd be a rival to the Eddie Lawson rep ZRX - which stopped in 2007, so maybe there's a reason for discontinuing this sort of big retro, i.e. it just doesn't sell enough.

This should be something enthusiasts should want to build, own & enjoy, not necessarily something the factory would resurrect.

Ah, found an article on it, the "10 best bikes not sold in America"...

Just look at this thing. Basically a modernized version of the original GSX-R1100 from the 1980s, the GS1200SS was made because that original bike was actually illegal to sell in Japan, where max capacity used to be capped at 750cc. This bike allowed riders there to re-live the companyís glory days, just with brakes capable of genuine stopping power and suspension enabling the 462 lbs bus to make it around corners. Here punched out to 1,156cc, the air/oil-cooled inline-four makes just 100 bhp and 70 lb.-ft. of torque, but all the original GSX-R tuning parts will fit, so itís easy to get it making silly amounts of power. Of all the bikes on the list, this is the one that keeps me up at night.

The front reminds me of the Morbidelli V8,remember them

Looks like a three year old tried to draw an 80s sportsbike and the factory accidently built it.

The more I see it - esp w/the two-tone paint - the more I like it. It's the bastard lovechild of a GSXR and a Yamaha Super Tenere.

And it's BIG. After all the downsizing and size reduction in bikes, I love seeing a bike with some BEEF.

It's got loads more character than, for example, the Kawasaki Versys or Suzuki GSX1250 (the faired Bandit), and would be way cooler than a VFR, FZ1 or Z1000. It might not be as techy or up-market as a Triumph Adventure, BMW GS or Ducati minimoto, but it certainly wouldn't be nearly as expensive.

It's definitely not as practical as any of these bikes, but bikes aren't always bought to be practical - they're supposed to be FUN, remember? And you're supposed to smile when you look at them, and this bike certainly does that.

I'd have one in my garage in a heartbeat, right next to my ZRX1200R.
