Default Bike Running Sh*t when cold

The bike is bogging down and not revving up and stalling at the lights when cold. This has just started to happen this week and has gotten gradually worse until today when it was downright dangerous. Once she's hot not a bother. I changed the air filter and plugs last weekend so I'm probably to blame I also slid back the carbs to make sure there was no restriction in there. She never gave this trouble before even in the depths of winter 30 seconds on full choke was all that was required. Any ideas? To change the plugs the tank came off and I also had to undo one coolant hose from the t-stat housing and I also lubed the throttle and choke cables but did no adjustments to them at all. On full choke she turns over a 3k rpm it used to be around 32k t0 34k. Its an ER-5 that has otherwise been bullet proof where do you reckon I went wrong/

you might have done something to the choke when you had the carb apart or affected the mixture without realising. Did you get a good seal between the carb and barrel when you put it back?

Maybe ye knocked the idle speed knob by accident and turned down the idle speed. If you turn it up even 500 rpm it may make a difference

But when this crap is happening if I fully open the throttle she'll go to about 6k rpm and that's it for like 10-20 seconds and then boom she'll take off and wind up to redline so making progress you have to wide open the throttle and hope that she doesn't suddenly decide to go this is only for the first few miles until hot.

sounds like a question for chopper, my carb has done funny things before too. My choke used to be like a nitrous switch! only lasted about 10 miles though. turn on the choke and the power would sore! if i'd let it go id say my ped would have done 65mph but blown the engine

I'd go back all the way down to the plugs... doublecheck the ones you put in are the same as what came out; check all connections, vacuum and electrical; maybe you didn't seat the airbox in properly? Finally, recheck all the plugs (and the coil connections to them!) to see if any are fouled.

Check for air leaks around the carbs -- when running, spray some starting fluid (ether) or WD40 will work too (it's not as combustible so it's safer but if there is air getting sucked into the carb/manifold it's very obvious w/starting fluid) around the base of the carbs. If the idle changes, you've got air getting sucked in somewhere it shouldn't. It's pretty common for rubber seals to age and weather and crack.

What type of bike are you dealing with ? Does the bike need vavle adjustments? could be losing compression. Bad Compression is masked when hot. Whats your spark plug telling you when you start it cold ?
If its black and wet its getting too much fuel.
