Hi Guys,
Just looking for some advice. Hoping to buy my first bike in the next month or so but havnt a clue really what to get. Originally had thought I'd get a Hornet 250, but only just found out they aren't in fact learner legal (really annoyed that Quinn still quoted me!). Anyways, I have about E2000 and under for buying something and am open to any and all suggestions! Cheers! (also, have pretty much no bike experience except for a 125 scooter for a couple of months.) |

You could still get the hornet but will need the restricter fitted most big bikes will need it fitted to make them learner legal, You will still get a quote on the bike depending on age but 250/400/600 and up most will need the restrictor fitted.. Chopper on site is the man to talk to about getting one fitted.

If you have no experience, Allow for gear and getting the IBT and a few lessons, all the €€'s add up so is the €2000 for bike and all this or just the bike To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |

Do you know is it a big job to get a restricter fitted? Ya, I had thought about getting a bike about a year ago but once I started discovering all these little extra costs I kinda gave up on the idea, so ya E2000 would be just for the bike and hopefully another E2000 should cover me in everything else. Also, what exactly is the IBT? |

€2000 is loads for a first bike!
You shouldnt need to do IBT to legally drive on the road. I would definatly recommend lessons though!

(I know this is a ridiculously noob question, but don't know anyone personally that has a bike and havn't had much opportunity to be around them!)
But if I was to go ahead and get her off ya, whats the craic with restricting it? Do you know will insurance co's accept it as being restricted if you did it before I took it off ya, or does it matter (ie if god forbid i had an accident, once its restricted im sound?) And the final question for now, who would most people be insured with? Sorry the long-winded noob nonsense, but thanks for al yer help! cheers! |

If yer after it, I'd look after the restriction end of it and provide you with the certificate. I'm insured with Adelaide having come from Quinn Direct. To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |

How much would ya be looking for ta have the whole lot done and for her ready to go? One last thing I might ask you, how complicated is it to maintain a bike? I know you can save a small fortune by doing it yourself, would it be the sorta thing you could pick up from online and teach yourself? |

It's a understressed motor in a reliable chassis that's easy minded. I'd gladly show you the basics and maybe even fire in a few tools, chain wax etc... To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |

I'm 100% interested, but being perfectly honest it could be 2, or even more, weeks before I get ta have a chance to get up to ya with cash and all that (I work as a chef so my hours/days off are all over the place) I also have to sort out getting my loan (won't be an issue, but will have to wait for it to be approved etc. and need a day off ta get in2 the bank) And the last thing I have to do is sort out my licence as I'm pretty sure its expired so have to get my 2nd prov. However, I could definitely be able to get a deposit to ya in the next week or so if i decide to go ahead with ya for certain. So, all going well I'l be back to ya by this time next week. Also, do you know would it fit handy enough in van? A friend of mine has a Hi-ace (not a pikey tho!) simply because I dont think I'd be comfortable driving her to galway yet so I'd need her to be carried. Finally, I do have a bit of reluctance due to her age. If anyone else would comment on that I'd be greatfull (not to doubt your good-character but you know yourself!!) |

You're right to be vary of the age but, anytime lads have looked at it, I've stared it from stone cold. With the standard cans on it, that way you'll hear that the engine hasn't a rattle or squeak outta it. |
