Hi...
My OEM chain had 106 links, and my new DID x-ring came with 110 (including the rivet link), so I hacked 4 off, and put it on, along with new sprockets. BUT, at the right tension, the wear/wheel alignment indicator/notch (whatever it's called) is already past halfway to the back. This means, as my chain wears, I am likely to run out of tightening space and be unable to tighten it anymore even though the chain might have plenty of life left. I could have pushed the wheel much farther forward, but the chain would obviously be too loose. Should/could I have taken more links out? I really think I could have done with 102 instea of 106...but it just seems wrong to do. Although, I'm not sure why. Just curious for next time really...Or I might take some links out when the time comes. Thanks! |

You shouldnt get the whole adjustment out of the chain. Think about it, the chain would have stretched from 0-10 adjustments which is way too wankered to have on, so half way is perfect.
Thats what I've gone by |
