The chain on my wr250 is knackered lookin to replace it with something decent, I have been using the bike for trail riding, a few hare and hound races and a few mx practice days,
Any suggestions on what type to go for (it's a 520 chain btw) Gonna change the rear sprocket too what you reckon alloy or steel? at present there's a jt steel one but that's nearing the end of its life to so just gonna change it too. |

I'd stay away from JT the cahins are made of butter. I've had good luck with regina OR chains, they seem to really last, can get at least a half season of hard racing. I'd go for a supersprox stealth rear sprocket, best of both words, has the aluminum inner bit to save on weight but the teeth are steel so they won't wear out as much. I find a full steel sprocket too heavy and will rob a lot of power.

Don't be tempted to buy a cheap chain for your bike. I made the mistake of buying a cheap THC chain thinking i could save a few quid. Stretched like an elastic band and the links seized up, that got the bin after not too long even though i cleaned and oiled it reguraly. I use a renthal gold-series chain on my bike now and its a great chain.
