Every sixteen-year-old's best dream & worst nightmare rolled into one. They were a '70s icon, though. Young fellas today don't know what they are missing

MotoSlug has a shed full of these. He must have 30 of them, he polishes them up, talks to them and has names for them all. He swapped an Excelsior Manxman for them all. He is quite mad, but happy. I have tried to get him to sell one but he wont sell or even swap. I even offered him a BSA M20 for one!!

I remember the twins of the late '60s with the painted front mudguard & tank side panels. The later ones with the chrome bits looked nicer. They were nippy little things, but the problem was that everybody rode the living shit out of them. They were just too small & fragile to stand up to the abuse they got.

the one i had was the fastest with the three main bearing crank and most fragile , it had smaller indicators than the one in the picture , good for about 8,000 miles , if not crashed first ,

TBH I never saw a twin with the springs exposed on the rear shocks. All the ones that I remember had covers.

The rate of exchange is:

5 off M20 for a 125 Bantam.
7 off M20 for a 150 Bantam.

and so on, I think 11 M20`s would be about right for a 175 Sports.
