seperate the connector that comes off the ignition. its in the box where all the wire come together. check and see if the connector for the earth wire is melted. the wire goes from the ignition block back to the main fuse in the fusebox

Rainy day like today makes the bike run pure sh*te. With good dry weather it improves dramatically.
Speedo’s jumping around no matter what the weather. Also the oil light has started to come on for a few seconds here and there (there is the correct amount of oil in it). |

Update
Problem is no longer intermittent. Speedo died altogether, bike is running ok. Just the response to throttle is a bit weird sometimes especially in low revs (bellow 2k). So, as mentioned before, could be something on the TPS circuit – which is nearly everything. My new suspect is the speedo sensor. When I turn the key to ON the battery voltage is 13.8V When I disconnect the speedo sensor and measure across the black and red wires coming from the battery I get 12.7V. If I connect it back up and measure across the same wires I get only 2.7V. Then, when I rotate the wheel slowly I get pulses 2.7V->0.2V->2.7V from the white wire. Should the voltage drop like this from 12.7V to 2.7V? I was kinda expecting 12.7V->0V->12.7V pulses as it is a hall switch. Thanks. Just to follow up ...
Replaced the speedo sensor and all is sorted now. Bike is running as it should! New sensor about €150, €30 for used. To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |
