I still have a feeling a new battery would cure the whole thing.

It isn't your battery

The two wires that are joined at the clutch switch are black and black/yellow. Unjoined, the starter button does fuck all. With the black/yellow wire earthed, the starter button does fuck all. With the black wire earthed, the starter button causes that familiar click from the junction box

Sorry mate, I was pissed last night so I'm surprised you got any sense out of me at all.

It's obviously not the clutch switch then but I've got way too much of a hangover to put any thought into it.

I dunno about the hammer, but I've already called it a motherfucker, a prat, a gimp and a gee-bag. None of which fixed it

I was just out, took the tank off, checked all the wiring going from the bars back. All seems fine. It seems to be after the junction box.

Couldn't resist the temptation to cross the solenoid and fire the auld hoor up.
Fuck sakes, some rip out of it. It sounds beautiful, evil.
It reminded me why I'm putting myself through all this shit
