Default Petrol Leak

Just discovered a problem with my 06 RSVR (2003 model) 30k miles.

Had it put away in the garage for the past month and just noticed yesterday that petrol is dripping out of a little pipe under the tank (looks like an overflow) but the tank is pretty empty (fuel light is on). Anyone got any thoughts on what is going on? The drip is pretty constant. Thanks J

And identify exactly where the leak is coming from, that'll be half the battle.

Google will throw up a fair bit of info on Aprilias leaking fuel once you identify where it's coming from. Get your credit card ready. Been down that road...

There is a small pipe coming down behind the left hand side of the tank which is dripping almost directly onto the chain near the front cog. Does this help identify? Also, do you know someone in the Kildare area who would be familar with the RSV and would service/fix? brgds j

Is it the fuel pipe from the base of the fuel pump that's leaking?

- just trying to help you identify the prob.

If anyone can sort it out, it's Chopper. Waited for months for my tank to be repaired, got fed up and brought it to Chop who had it fixed within a week. Charged me feck all and 2 years on it's still perfect.

Aprilia sure didn't want to know when I emailed them about petrol leaking out of my bike. Reply went something like... "Thank you for contacting Aprilia. Please fuck off and contact someone else".

There's a fair few threads on various forums about rotting fuel pipes and leaking fuel tanks but I didn't find anything that made me think there was a recall.

It could be the fuel tank has rusted and there is a hole in it. Or that the fuel line would need to be replaced thats a simple and easy fix. Or the float in the carb is stuck or there is muck in the carb.

The first thing would be to find out where the fuel leak is coming from and than I can help you out more.

Best of luck and hope you get sorted
