Motorbike: GSR 600
Default Bouncy Suspension

Lads,

Read a review recently about the suspension on my GSR600 basically saying its not great at best.... it has seemed fairly bouncy to me but have had nothing to compare it to because its my first bike.... I know it can be adjusted but I'm not sure how easy/difficult this is and from what I've read biker weight plays a big part too...

Any suggestions to get it feeling smoother & safer...

Cheers

adjust the damping on it if you can.... if no damping adjustment on it compress the spring so its got less travel

Motorbike: YZF750SP (yes, the pink one) back in the day.
Modifications: Pacemaker. Oh, the bike - gasflowed EXUP fahsand.

Mate of mine has one of them. The rear shock is fully adjustable (compression/rebound/preload), the front end is preload-only.

They're fairly firm out-of-the-box, so a lot of people fiddle with the stock settings. I suggest you return it to the factory-setup, and gradually wind on a little preload at the front and damping at the rear, trying it out each time until you're happier with it. Do you notice it compressing or uncompressing particularly quickly at the back? This will guide you in ascertaining whether you have the wrong compression/rebound damping settings. Stock settings are detailed in the second table on page 10-48 of this:
