Default Kids & Mini Trials

Was considering getting my young fella a bike for Christmas.
Looking at a mini moto trials version. pull start, 50cc..etc
He's nearly 8 with no real concept of consequence (What 8 year olds do).
I'm not into the "Dirt bike" scene...can't afford the camper van, power washer, generator, patio set, awning etc...
He loves my bikes but he's too big for the front now and too small for pillion (In my opinion).
I know these things can move so I'd restrict it, but heres the €2 question.

Am I mad, Will he break something (Of his own), will my wife take the kids and leave?, They look small / basic, but I do have a responsibility, and a conscience.
Any opinions (Apart from "Go for it"...not that simple - even with the gear).

I would definatly get it for him so long as you do restrict it and as long as he is properly suited and supervised at all times i cant see it being a problem. Best of luck with it if you do go for it.

i would get one for him, but wouldn't let him use it unless he's suited and booted with the correct gear and with adult supervision.

There was someone flogging a kids quad here, it has a remote cut-off fitted for safety as an extra. Could be worth picking up one of those for whatever you go with.

Im racing since i was 7 mate.
Just to re-iterate what everyone else said....

Make sure he got the gear,
He doesn't drive it on the roads like ive seen some kids do (WHAT THE FUCK)!!
Take him to a proper track. If he falls it will be mushy muck ... if ya know what i mean.

My opinion... buy him a proper 50cc moto-x. You dont need any of the other crap. They actually fit in the boot of a car! lol
Just get the little tyke to wash it with a bucket and sponge when he gets home.

Ah those where the days!

Dad - GET OUT THERE AND WASH YOUR BIKE!!!

Me - *snuff whinge snuff* but i think i broke me leg

Dad - Well when your bike is clean you can walk to the hospital!

lol!!
