Adverts/bike mag test rides don't impress me much. I'd be more likely to look at an owners' forum if I was interested in a particular bike. For me, the most important points would be reasonable low-to-mid-range torque & above all, comfort.

i kinda take notice of what some of the mags say, quite like 'Bike' magazine tests on real roads. the track tests are a bit irrelevant..reckon ya need 3 or 4 different bikes anyway: a sporty one, a toury one, a supermoto, a dirt bike, and a scoot......actually thats 5.

dunno, only looks at mags for the pictures:lbhbh:, bar classic motorcycle mechanic, I likes that one:thumbsup2:

its handy when you've a choice, for instance!
me XTZ used for going to work and pissing about.
me TRX used for pissing about & blasts on a weekend.
me FZR, for blasts on any other weekend, was using it for going to work for a good while, but it doesn't like traffic
me FZX, FOR SALE:shifty: was used for going to work and pissing about!

I had the FZR on me wall when I was a kid and was delighted the day I rode one home, and happier again to know it's a decent bike, but to be honest, If it was a bucket of shite through reviews etc, I still would have bought one. I would look up to see what problems that a bike would have a common fault on and if I knew it was expensive to sort if not done already before buying I would more than likely keep away from it, that's why I only have Yams:biggrin_old:

Bought few bikes, but after all only kept 99 r1 because its legend, and reminds me what I always wanted my bike look like and ride like. Also that it has a balls to throw a glow to the face of any modern superbike out there...

i remember siting in the work van in december 91 one morning i had just bought superbike magazine and there was a new triumph trident 900 in dark green featured in it . i didnt even know triumph were back in buisness . i fell in love i taught it was beautyfull nearly 20 years later i bought a 750 trident it was a beauty poor enough breaks but perfect other than that . i had to sell it but i would have another one in the morning .

i think it was the photo of the fella doing a whellie on it that sold it to me . i also remember when the fireblade was launched years later i bought a 93 blade it wasnt much cop . them bike jurnos are full of shit and anoying cunts too so i wouldnt put a bit of heed in what they say .

i used to love the little used motorcycle guide the readers would submit their storys about their bikes and they had a bike guide saying what bike was good and what was bad very handy truthfull too .

I read diff mags but just for news and entertainment, I'd never take notice of them for buying a bike, better roads, lot of track work, there simply not relevent for Irish roads and blasts.

I bought the hornet 250 because general opinion was there awesome, and It was

I bought the hornet 600 because it presumed it was awesome too, It wasn't, there crap

I bought the gsxr because I wanted a r6 or cbr, but someone offered me one and It looked mint, love the bike

I'm actually so glad I ended up with the gsxr because after I drove the r6 and the cbr and I'd never buy one.

Always loved the r1, alway sed I'd own one, until I ripped one down a back road. Fun but I wouldn't buy one.

Iv ridden bike mags have sed are best in the world but they are too hard sprung for Irish roads.

Basically listen to people and drive a few bikes before you buy

This year I'll get my gsxr 1000.

When I was about nine or ten my dads mate had a 650 Dakar. I said I'd have one some day.
Ten years later I got one!

Also spent a good portion of my childhood eyeing up the Ducati 916. Soon...
