Thats just fuked up!!... Its costly enough as it is without hiking up the prices more. Just goin for a spin now on a sunday costs a fair bit and some of us use our bikes to get in and out to work during the week.

Have to agree and the government continues to sit on the wall while Rome burns. This country depends on transport to get goods moved around the country. Its about time people took to the streets.

The Langers !!! They knew all along.
No wonder they have all those Honda 50's up for 3 and 4 grand a pop, sure come next year (if we make it that far) the only thing on the road will be a nifty 50 or a wee 125
You can forget about riding your TL/Harley/R1 to work every day if it's costing €3/€4 a litre for juice.
Smart thing to do is start buying up cheap mopeds/auld CG's etc.... wait until bikers can't afford to run their big bike's as commuters and flog the lot:woots:

It's our own fault we keep our head in the sand complain to our mates in the pub , but we are the people that vote for the fuckers( well I haven't voted since the 1980's) these lying, money grabbing , corrupt politicians have being allowed to get away with destroying the country while lining their own pockets, most are also runing their own business or involved in property deals while being guaranteed huge salaries and pensions. Until we take to the streets in large numbers and protest it will get worse. We need a complete overhaul as to how we do our business .

Conner faulkin from the AA Has been on the radio for months saying that the government taxes are having the oppisate effects on fuel.

They bump up the price and people simply drive less, hence its counter productive to up the price as a revenue maker.

I think my thirsty cage is gonna have to go.... may just bike it full stop!

Did it for 6 years before, once there be no snow we are ok.

well the bad news is petrol is becoming to expensive

the medium news is electric bikes cost to much and are dangerous if crashed (also heavy)

and the good news is hydrogen will replace petrol so we can keep the internal combustion engine :biggrin_old:

Before the last election FG confirmed on one of the moring radio shows that it was their intention to increase tax on fuel so as not to increase income tax, €1.70 was the price mentioned. I posted it here at the time in one of those pre election big politic type threads, cant find it now :rolleyes2:

It would make you sick, so shut up and do something about it if ye have the balls if not get on a plane and leave it to somebody else.:mad1:

To throw a few facts in there

The government take on petrol is 89.52 cent and diesel is 77.72 cent

Tax needs to be dropped.

All is grand for politicians cos all there fuel is paid for

And I think talk of 4 euro a litre is Bollix.

War in Iran will make no difference there is already a ban on Iran oil.

Price of barrel isn't much different to in 2008 so why such a rise

ieoinu 22nd February 2012 02:43 PM

Re: €1.70 a litre

It's not the government putting up the prices, the problem is global. Granted the tax on fuel here is high but it's high everywhere else too. We're on par wit he rest of Europe even slightly less than some. Trouble with Iran and Libya is what's after driving prices through the roof. It's becoming more like a prologue to Mad Max everyday.

green grass 22nd February 2012 02:54 PM

Re: €1.70 a litre

I think the gov should get a fixed amount per litre in taxes as opposed to a percentage of the price! Every time a litre of fuel goes up so does the gov take! That should not be the case! I'm self employed and fuel costs are killing me to run my Mickey mouse little business ! In 1999 fuel was 10 % of my turn over! Now it's 25%!

I havent bothered going into filling stations for years, have a large diesel tank (with a big lock :shifty:) at home for the cage, fill it when diesels cheap (normally the summer), lasts the year and you get a better price straight from the distributors. Not to mention you get 30 days credit from the distrb, then you pay them with a credit card then, so you dont pay for 60 days. :thumbsup2:
