Re: €1.70 a litre
it was on the radio earlier this week, on petrol the government are taking a little over 50% of the price and on diesel its near 60%.
if anyone strikes oil in their back garden - dont tell the government because they will want to sign it all away like they did with the corrib project - taepots :rolleyes2: To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater. |
Re: €1.70 a litre

Re: €1.70 a litre
Garages around here are matching each other on fuel prices
talk about price fixing
id say its more to do with the fact that they are as low as they can go, that's why they're all the same, anyone who has ever had anything to do with a garage will know that the profits are so minimal that some even sell at a loss just to get customers into a shop to buy groceries where they can make real profit. No money to be made in selling fuel, just what you can make off the footfall of it:thumbsup2: |
Re: €1.70 a litre

Re: €1.70 a litre
It's worrying for me - I'm about to spunk over €10k on a new bike. The question is, should I get my dream bike (K1300GT) if I won't be able to run it in a few years? :wassat:

Yep, a lot of garages are using the juice as a loss leader, same as the supermarkets selling below cost price beer. That's half the reason that a pint of milk or a bottle of coke will be dearer there than in a normal newsagents/supermarket. I worked with Esso years ago and whenever there were competitors nearby we'd be going around almost daily checking the prices of them and matching them as close as possible. |

It was the same when I worked in a garage. Think the coffee machine was the best thing in the place for making money |

Re: €1.70 a litre
Know two couriers who have thrown in the towel this last week saying its just not worth it. Bloke on the radio just there talking about 2 quid a litre by the summer and if a war kicks off in Iran 4 euro a litre no probs. Fckin crazy.
