1994 Africa Twin gearbox noise

Hi,
Have an Africa twin 750 RD07. Clutch release bearing was noisy. Changed it, but have lot of noise in first gear. Never drove any further than 100 yards.
I know they are incredibly noisy from reading on forums.

Never owned one or ridden one before.
Just wondering has anybody around Mullingar got one that I could compare to or find out what’s normal..!

Thanks

1st should be no louder than any other gear. I've rebuilt a heap of these motors!! Over tight chain is the main culprit for doing in the gearbox. Check the front sprocket and output shaft splines for wear, if the sprocket rocks back and forth it's goosed. If it's already welded, it's goosed. The clutch release bearing is common to rattle and never really gets worse. Let us know how you get on

I think spurious sprockets is the killer of the output shaft

True enough, they don't seem to help. A knackered shock does it's bit too

Just extract the gold from it & scrap the rest of it ;-)

Hi lads, done the release bearing.
Took off the front sprocket cover. Front sporcket is wobbling all over the place. Shaft seems fine tbh.
Ordered a new genuine sprocket. Hopefully that will solve.

Thanks
