Breakdown service

Hey guys so some scummer tried stealing my bike from my front garden a few weeks back. In the process of breaking the steering lock he bent the handlebars. And because he couldn't take the bike he decided to bend the clutch+ brake handles in the process.
So I've managed to order replacement handlebars and clutch + brake handles. And getting a bike shop to take a look at it on Sat. My question is do I need to ring my breakdown service Saturday morning or can I ring them prior to Saturday to come sat morning?

Cheers in advance

Not 100% on this, but I think they'll only recover a bike if it's more than 500 metres/1 km AWAY from your residence. Go read the small print on your breakdown policy

No I've had them bring it to City Spares in Cherry Orchard before and I'm in Santry. The nearest bike shop is about 2miles up the road.

Now that was a long time ago though. Hopefully it will be ok on Sat. Pain in the arse having to commute to work by bus. But at least they didn't get the bike.

As Nodster Says Check your Policy, The Breakdown Policy MAY Only cover you for a Breakdown " As this is a Result of a attempted Theft and Vandalism " It may not be Covered as a BREAKDOWN. They might come out and Transport the Bike BUT be 100% Sure this is FREE as in your Cover Get this in Writing , Otherwise they will Charge you Per Kilometer There and Back Again and Also for the Call out.

Re: Breakdown service

Sound enough, you probably have 'Homestart' added to your policy. Suppose you could pre-book as a safeguard.

Why not ring them and ask?, better chance of getting a correct answer than asking for opinions on here.

Sorry to hear about your hassle, some awful fukin scum around.

Don't say it was an attempted theft, say you knocked it over yourself. The pickup agent isn't going to care. Ring them Saturday morning in my opinion. Double check your policy covers you for homestart as well, I know AXA and Principal have it by default, dunno about the other 3.

Ok so I rang breakdown service. They took my details+ gave me a reference number to use today. Rang them this morning, gave the reference number, and the bike has since been picked up and dropped off to the shop. Won't get looked at till after the weekend, but happy it's in the shop now. Cheers guys.

Glad that you got the bike to the shop and it will soon be sorted. Hope scummer manages to get fixed also. Don't neglect to up your game with security.
