All, I received this email this morning from Jonny at StreetFighterRacing...

...glad you all enjoyed the weekends racing.
Regarding running your own event, fees per rider are the same, but it runs differently, 2 warm ups 4 races, then depending on number ¼ finals then semi finals and then a grand final, any number of riders can be catered for, and I’ll do my best that the riders get to race with different riders for each of their 4 qualifying heats. Minimum number of riders is 20, but the more you have the longer and more fun it will be, as a 20 GP would last at most 1 ½ 2 hrs if I stretched it.

Regarding using Athboy as a venue, your best bet is to contact them directly, they in turn contact us, if both parties are free for the date you want then its go, to contact Athboy visit their website - To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater.

Must admit you hire bike lads got to grips pretty quickly, well done, next step get a Minimoto and join the MMRCI and start racing, next club round is on Sat 15th Oct Castlefin Extreme Karting, Castlefin Co. Donegal.
Yours in Sport,
Jonathan McConnell

Chopper, did you say you knew some of the lads that run the Athboy circuit??

just exactly what am i looking for a price for.....
20 or so lads with thier own minimotos for a gran prix type scenario?.
that sound about right?.
from what i gathered it was50 yoyos per man with bike, and 20 yoyos for someone else to share that bike.
so in theory if you had say 8 bikes and 24 riders it would be around 720 yoyos split between 24 .which would be roughly 30 yoyos each.
i`ll go over there tommorow and try sort out a better deal.i,ll find out available dates too.

Good stuff - I think yer man Jonny was saying that we just find out available dates from Athboy and they organise it with the Minimoto lads. If we have 20+ people we'll actually have more racing/track time than we had last weekend as not only will we have 2 practice sessions and 4 races each, but also 1/4, semi's and a grand final. That's a lot of racing for 50-odd quid folks! :)

Either Sat or Sun are good for me Chopper. I think we'd need the track for more than a few hours... I might mail yer man Jonny and see what kind of track time we're talking about...

More info on track time & cost:

...costs will be the same as the last time £45stg, this includes the use of Athboy’s track and the hire of the bikes, the more people you get the longer it will be, time wise for every 10 riders its an hour, 20 about 2 hours etc

Lids elbow pads sliders and gloves are supplied and some rather old ‘smelly’ red boiler suits, but I’d advise everyone to try and bring their own gear, or get a loan from a mate.

[b]does the £45stg include the hire of the mini moto?

That £45Stg is a total cost for the day - bike, track, gear, petrol etc...

Bandages, splints, drips, hire of stretchers etc is extra...

Is there any discount if you bring your own minimoto?

I built a P2 with spare parts I had and a chap said he would swop his minimoto for it.

Any dates arranged? Could we reach the magic figure of 20?

Johnny Wishbone
3rd October 2005, 11:30 AM
Chopper, do we have a list of possible dates yet that we could give to SKenny so we can get one of his worldclass polls going?? ^_^ I reckon we should easily reach the magic number of 20. Actually, yis should mention it to your mates and work collegues folks... or are we keeping it strictly Biker.ie??

Liamo
3rd October 2005, 11:44 AM
id say keep it as biker as possible, but not strictly biker.ie
meaning, bring your mates if they're into bikes, but dont bring the office secretary so you can show off hoping you might charm her into a game of hide the sausage
