Just thinking of possible ideas for my next bike trip.
Have done France, Switzerland, Italy, Northern Spain and Portugal, and toured the Alps and Pyrenees as well.
So am thinking the next trip could possibly be, ferry from Dublin or Rosslare to Wales, drive down to Plymouth and then get the ferry to Santander.
Drive down to the south of Spain and get a ferry to Morocco.
Has anyone ever rode a motorbike in Morocco or done a similar trip?

Did a guided tour by bike last month, roads aren't too bad, have to watch out for gravel and potholes but Morocco is a fantastic place and as with anywhere so much better from the back of a bike. Only couple of warnings - don't ride at night if you can avoid it at all - most vehicles don't use their lights untill it is fully dark and bikes <100cc generally don't have any. be prepared to wait at the border (and bribe) and be very carefull where you point your camera, two people on our trip got into trouble 1 taking pictures of the police and another taking pictures in the port.

It's on the list, meaning the info diggin had already began:

"This thread attempts to consolidate collective GS knowledge about Morocco." (To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater.)

This club went down there a few times (To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater.)

but the site to start with is Horizons Unlimited (To view pics on this biker's forum - your post count must be 2 or greater.). Loads and loads of info there, take the time to search the site and its forums ("The HUBB")

:rolleyes2:

I went down a few years ago. Took the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander, then blasted down and got the ferry from Algeceiras to Ceuta. Took the wrong road and ended up in what looked like some refugee town, had to scarper pretty quick I tell ya.
Got stuck in customs for about six or seven hours and the pricks said I had to be back in three days or they wouldn't let my bike back out.
Did what I could but quickly found a blackbird wasn't the most suitable bike, which is why I have an Africa Twin now, forever stuck in sand and mud. Came back in two days just in case and lo and behold they did try to kick up a fuss and bar me from exiting but made it eventually.
The roads I was on were shit, definitely not recommended to ride at night, tho maybe it's changed a bit now. But I was mostly up in the Rif (or is it Kif ?) mountains and at the time it was pretty lawless. Pissed rain and was freezing too and that was about July/August if I remember right.
However, would I go back again ? I'd tear off tomorrow if I could, but I'd head as far south as I could straight away, the north sucks imo.
