Im sad to say my bike has died a death
At the start it would constantly die on me and the only thing i could do was kick her in on full throttle to get her started again .... about 3 times every hour
Now every time i go to start her the plugs always seem soaked. very fustrating
Recently I tried to clean her up ... (shes a 96 bike) so a bit old .. and i took off the back break calipar to get the wheel off and now when i move the bike the breaks move with it .... I have really done a job on the yolk
Anyone know a fella around the east cork area who would have a look at it ... If it does cost too much then Id say ill scrap it... And then left totally bikeless

its sounds likes the running very rich!! and the caliper will move if the bolts are not holding it on tight enough

CR125 ... is that a 2-stroke ?
Best to have a mechanic or someone who knows bikes look at it and service it properly. You might have assembled the brake caliper wrong.

take off the carb, open the float bowl (underneath bit) take out the jets and clean them , reassemble and see if it starts easier :thumbsup2:

I would of thought the wheel woulda come off with the caliper in place...
However whats the compression of the cylinder and what state are the rings in? I.E. when were the last changed?

also get a workshop manual for your bike so you know what the specifications/tolerences are for your bike... you'd be supprized how little you may need... rings and gaskets defo, change all fluids, check bottom end, and strip and clean carb as chopper said, and decoke the top end and exhaust and you should be well back on the road... the cr's are mighty little beasts,

id say its actually a simple enough fix for both problems. If you've any mates who are mechanics ask them to have a look, dont let some hero near it though or he'll wreck the thing on you! The brake calliper is probably just refitted losely, as for the cutting out... its an old 2 stroke, get the head and barrel taken off, its an easy job on 2 stroke off roaders, theyre designed for fast and easy top end rebuilds. You might need new piston rings which are cheap enough. Then have the carb cleaned out, its probably full of sludge that'd make the bike run badly. Then a new spark plug and wash the air filter out. I use petrol and then leave it to dry out, once its dry dampen it with some oil and fit it back, hey presto you should have a good runner. I wouldnt scrap it!

Thanks for all the reply's but a lot of this went over my head. Now if it was computers then not a bother but when it comes to mechanics then not a clue. I heard of a fella "cunningham" i think in carrig that rebuilds motox bikes and is meant to really know what he is on about.
Any one hear of this guy?

Check your reeds first before taking off the head. Damaged reeds can give the symptoms you describe. If you are not comfortable doing it, give me a ring on 0214917738 between 9:30 and 6 and we can talk about it.

might be as simple as a blocked jet in the carb. do that first. its the simple things you cheak before taking pistins and heads off.
there should be a slot on the swinging arm for your rear brake caliper to fit into. its not housed properly. Go back . take your time and have a good look at where you think it should be and fix it. get an extra pair of hands to help. can be fiddley.
